To make the car safer, the Government of India has made front passenger airbags mandatory for all cars. As per the notification of MoRTH, the time of airbag fit for co-driver for all new vehicles is 1 April 2021. But, this rule will be applicable to the current model from 31st August 2021. There are still few such cars in the country. Front seats that do not come with dual airbags. If an entry level car has an airbag setup, it costs Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000. Find out which cars are which.

Car Safety Norms in India 2021 Following are Cars :

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800

The entry level Maruti Alto 800 is currently fitted with a driver’s side airbag. So the passenger side airbag is available as an option. The STD and LXI (CNG) variants are not brought with the co-driver airbags as a feature.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco

This car does not have front passenger side airbag feature. For safety, the Eco comes with driver side airbags. ABS along with EBD, reverse parking sensor. Driver and front passenger seat belt reminder and much more.

Mahindra Bolero

It is the only car in Mahindra’s portfolio. G misses the front passenger side airbag safety feature. This SUV has ABS, driver airbags, reverse parking sensor. It also has co-driver detection system, seat belt reminder and many safety features.

Datsun Redi Go

The car comes with dual airbags only on top and T (O) variants. The following variants offer driver side airbags. The updated entry-level car comes with ABS, EBD, seat-belt reminder. It Also has rear parking assist sensors, front disc brakes and lots of safety features.

Renault Kwid

The carmaker offers a co-driver airbag on the Quid as an option. The car comes with a special feature along with other safety features and driver side airbag.

Maruti Celerio, Celerio X.

Both Maruti Celerio and Celerio X cars has a safety features. Which includes driver side airbags as standard. They get front passenger side airbags as an optional safety feature in the lineup.

Hyundai Santro

The hatchback is the only car in Hyundai’s portfolio. Which is brings in line up with dual airbags. The car has a lot of features. Driver side airbags are also provButowever, airbags on the co-driver are only offered on the Sportz (AMT) and Esta models.

Maruti S Presso

The Maruti Suzuki S Presso also offers co-driver airbag options. Its top of the line VXI + trim comes with dual airbags. The rest of the trims have co-driver airbags as an option.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

Maruti Wagon R gets driver airbags in all variants. The front seat passenger airbags are only available on the top end ZXI variant. This feature is available in the remaining three variants.
